I’m a simple Midwestern wife, mother and step-mother. My husband and I own and operate a business (we work there as well), and I home school one of our kids. Some aspects of my life are a little more complicated than others, but over all I try to keep things simple, inexpensive and fun. I was born and raised in the same small town I live in today in southern Iowa. (We are so far south in southern Iowa, we actually work in Missouri, like many other people in the area.)
One of the things I love to do is cook for my family. Sometimes, I think it’s the one thing that the kids look forward to when they’re with us. (Our older kids will actually come home if I tell them I am fixing one of their favorites.) I have some recipes that are old time family favorites, some that myself or the kids have created, and some that we have modified to fit our tastes. I often get requests for my recipes, so I thought what better way to share them than here.
Food is an important part of everyday life and, all too often, one of the few times that a family will come together. I know when I was growing up my grandmother used to tell me “you will learn to be a good cook when you have children of your own.” It didn’t really take me having kids to learn to cook. I just decided one day that I was tired of eating processed re-heated food and I really missed good ol’ home cooking.
I know many people who have difficulties with figuring out something for supper and others who would like to save some money on food. Hopefully, I can help out you other Midwesterns who have had these kinds of problems when planning meals. Hope you enjoy my site, thank you for visiting. Please check it out regularly as I am just getting started and will be adding more recipes frequently.
